Future-Ready Healthcare Starts Here: The HBA Foundation Launches with a Bold Mission

The new nonprofit arm of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association will prepare the next generation of healthcare leaders through education, mentorship, and global partnerships.
The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) has launched The HBA Foundation, a new nonprofit organization focused on developing the next generation of healthcare leaders and improving health outcomes worldwide.
The HBA Foundation will address one of the most pressing challenges in global health: a projected shortfall of 11 million healthcare workers by 2030, according to a recent report from the McKinsey Health Institute.
“As a global association representing leaders across healthcare and life sciences, the HBA is uniquely positioned to address this challenge through The HBA Foundation’s programs, strategic partnerships, and advocacy,” said Mary Stutts, CEO of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.
Programs to Support Future Healthcare Leaders
The HBA Foundation will concentrate on initiatives that prepare students and early-career professionals for success in healthcare careers, including:
- Educational Pathways: Scholarships and grants for students pursuing careers in healthcare.
- Mentorship and Leadership Programs: Matching participants with mentors to foster skill development and career advancement.
- Pipeline Programs: Collaborating with schools and universities to introduce healthcare career paths early and provide experiential learning opportunities.
- Training: Creating virtual internship programs that enable students to attain real work experience with HBA Corporate Partners and other healthcare organizations.
Beyond these programs, The HBA Foundation will also lead awareness campaigns to advance representation in healthcare access and delivery, ensuring systems reflect and respond to patient needs. Partnerships with global corporations, universities, and nonprofits will help extend the Foundation’s impact.
“The HBA Foundation is about creating opportunity where it’s needed most,” said Carol Montandon, Chair of The HBA Foundation Board of Directors. “By focusing on young people and early-career professionals, we are building the healthcare workforce our future demands. The ripple effect of this work will be felt in classrooms, clinics, and communities worldwide.”
